Reviews in Japan and Eastern Washington

Marc Jenefsky served on design juries for two award programs: the annual AIA Japan 2013 Design Awards, and the 2013 Excellence in Masonry Design Awards in Spokane.  Both competitions demonstrated commitment to design excellence.

The Japan AIA had two different reviews, one for the students and one for the professionals.  Marc was impressed with the creativity and graphics presented by the students.  The projects ranged from redesigned balconies to fully integrated large scale community structures.  The professional projects highlighted both tight skinny buildings and large scale suburban industrial campuses.  The Honor Award for the professionals was a window manufacturing facility that used its product as its fenestrations in a creative Mondrian layout, very beautiful.

At the Spokane Masonry Awards, public buildings took the limelight.  Masonry as an architectural statement was imbedded in the designs.  Simple design is difficult to achieve and the winning awards accomplished this while providing wonderful places to be.

Praise for client service & efficient design

I have worked with Marc on numerous projects for the past 10 years. I keep working with Marc because he represents his client’s well. I have complex projects that usually involve tenant and landlord issues, construction management, and building code issues. Marc has the vision to predict possible conflicts, resolve issues and deliver creative outcomes that move projects forward. He has saved me a great deal of time and money, and his designs are timely, efficient and appealing. - Jerry Kilka, Administrator, Vitreoretinal Associates

Praise for communication & attention to detail

Bazán Architects has been a pleasure to work with. Their project drawing and specifications have been second to none. They understand that the success of a project depends on constant collaboration and communication with the contractor and owner. I would welcome the opportunity to work with them again in the future. - Jasen Banta, Commercial Projects, Division Manager, Fowler General Construction

Praise for medical design

Bazán Architects and I enjoyed a strong team relationship in 2009 and 2010 building an eye clinic and surgery center for the Vitreoretinal Associates of Washington at the Hidden Valley Office Park in Bellevue and a satellite clinic in Burlington, Washington. I was so impressed with Marc Jenefsky’s knowledge and abilities especially in the areas of general building codes and specifically clinic and hospital construction. His attitude of “assisting” the general contractor made my job easier and allowed me to complete the jobs in a timely manner and provide outstanding service to our client. I would be honored to work with Marc on future projects. - Gordon Moorman, Project Manager, Group Health, CBRE
